Preparing our Earliest Learners for Primary Education
by Angela Davis, Family Services Worker
Name: Stella Miller
Center: Claxton Head Start
“the teachers helped my son become more independent in using his own thoughts, ideas and words to solve problems in a positive way.”
Stella Miller is a proud parent of a child that attended Coastal GA CAA Claxton Head Start Center. Head Start help prepare both herself and her son for the transition to public school. She feels that the partnership between herself, the teachers and the Family Services Worker helped her son become a successful student in school. Ms. Miller’s greatest concern upon entering the program was her child’s behavior but with the collaborative efforts of the staff, community and school system they were able to help her understand the developmental challenges that her son was facing and also able to share strategies to help her with this concern. Ms. Miller also states, “the teachers helped my son become more independent in using his own thoughts, ideas and words to solve problems in a positive way.”
The Head Start program not only assures that the children are fully prepared to start their educational career, but to also prepares the parents through various trainings and family/activity events.
